Aftersound @ Verge Gallery
Join me for the second performance of my piece Towards Adventure at Aftersound on Saturday 2 June.
Towards Adventure is a structured improvisation originally composed for two works. However, as it is a flexible work with plenty of potential to be adapted. I refined the piece and arranged it for four saxophones to be performed as part of the first Aftersound concert.
The piece was written with the goal to give performers freedom to respond to one another, and to allow performers to explore how sound travels through the performance space. So, it links beautifully with the ethos of Aftersound: a new performance program with a focus on sonic experiences, space and collaboration. Curated by Sydney-based artist Rainbow Chan, Aftersound asks its performers to create new works which consider the poetics of Verge Gallery’s space.
The program for this concert is incredibly diverse, and will be followed by a panel discussing creative processes and interdisciplinary collaboration. I’m really looking forward to hearing what the fantastic artists have to say!
