Copyist & Music Preparation

I work with individual composers to typeset handwritten scores, extract instrumental parts, prepare scores & parts for publishing, design custom house styles in Sibelius and design custom front matter pages.

I also work with the team at Jigsaw Music as a copyist and music librarian.

Why hire a copyist? My job is to understand the music that you have written and ensure it’s laid out to give performers the information that they’ll need in the most streamlined and simple way - so that they can focus on the music itself.

Having observed and produced many rehearsals and recording sessions for film and art music, I’m able to look at the music through a unique lens to anticipate information performers, conductors and producers might require and ensure that all information required is clearly laid out on the page. This minimises talking time and maximises playing time in rehearsals and recording sessions!
